Richard's Eulogy Imprecation Quote from Psalm 19 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to thee, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer! On Behalf of I'm speaking on behalf of Richard's friends and of our family To pay our last respects to our dear departed brother Richard Felix Barrington who died aged 66 years in an unfortunate accident. I cannot do justice But pardon me, if I speak well you'll all say Richard was a great chap And if I fail, why? Well - then he was not so great Well I'm not a speaker - so that's not so good for Richard and I can't do justice to someone else's 66 years in 5 minutes. Barest minimum I can only recount the barest minimum, The good: I'm not even aware of his proud moments, his victories I can only say he loved and was proud of his family, his work, his life. The bad: And of his sad moments, and his defeats We know almost nothing Further I would naturally leave out things I think he would not want me to say, You see, I'm biased, he's my brother. And what of his beliefs, his faith - He never discussed them with me. Did he call upon God as he died? I cannot answer these questions. Richard's Origin Richard was the son of Felix Michael Barrington and Dorothy Barrington Richard's Legacy Richard is survived by: his two children - Diana and John, whom we have been unable to contact, by his Mother, Dorothy by his two sisters Pauline and Dorothea and by myself, his brother, Stephen What we can say is Richard was someone who in marriage - he loved his wife and children, he made his mistakes and lost his treasured family, but he loved them dearly and spoke well of them until his last. at work - he always did his best and was passionate about his work, always trying to do things better, faster and to do his best for his bosses. After Retirement Richard retired from work about 15 to 20 years ago - due to having fainting spells, and thus being unable to drive safely. Since then he ran a home business - Richard was always making things to sell key rings ceramic jewelry and objects d'art leather articles, wallets, belts and bracelets Richard's death Richard preferred to live alone - and unfortunately - these two factors, (the fainting spells and his desire to live alone) appeared to have accounted for his end. It seemed he fainted, fell and cut his head in his own bathroom and if he cried out - no one heard him, save maybe God but he did try to get up, this could be deduced from blood marks on the bath and wall but was overcome, passed out, and then died from loss of blood Richard's Future Like a leaf from the great tree, he is on his way to our Mother Nature It is our destiny, everyone's. We are merely privileged to stay our hour or two And then we are on the way back to our source. Richard's legacy The person is gone, And What is left? These things are his legacy: - his children - his creations art and objects he made are testimony to his life many of his objects, I'm sure will outlive us all by generations - and his memory God Speed Richard - we wish you God speed, on your new journey, may the Angels guide you and bring you safely home, to live in Christ for eternity. For in Christ there is no sin and therefore no judgment, And no one asks 'What is this, why is that?" For all the works of the Lord are good. When Adam tried to hide his nakedness from God God asked Adam 'Who told you you are naked?' Thus did God tell us from the beginning He did not judge Adam - Adam and Eve judged Adam themselves. Now If God did not judge Adam, neither will he judge Richard Or anyone in Christ. Likewise if you hold anything against Richard now is the time - Forgive Him And if you hold Richard good for anything in your heart - Treasure it Richard's Memory Now - My last word to Richard is a quote from one of my own poems: And though you've gone in flames, you did not die While still you stand and live in my mind's eye.
